The Brighton Learning and Resource Campus (BLRC) project was a very challenging, phased interior gut, renovation and build-out of the former Platte Valley Medical Center, a 3-story 72,590 sf hospital building.
Scope of the work included: selective demolition of extensive MEP systems, new classrooms, staff support areas, DDC controls, modification of common areas, refurbished kitchen equipment, restroom upgrades, new fire alarm system, main entry, reconfigured HVAC electrical infrastructure.
This project was highlighted by significant unforeseen conditions including a live electrical panel found behind a demising wall, concrete topping slabs poured over VCT and carpet, and selective demo of MEP that also serviced the building next door. Now that it is complete, BLRC is helping to revitalize a Brighton neighborhood, and is providing much-needed educational and mental health opportunities for all ages from preschoolers to high school, college, and post-graduate studies.
